The Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division I championship game between Hilo and Kealakehe will be completed Saturday at 7 p.m.
The teams will begin play with 58 seconds remaining in the first half at Kealakehe High School.
There will be no admission charged for the game.
The game was halted late in the first half last Saturday because of the tsunami warning issued to Hawaii. Kealakehe High School is a tsunami shelter.
Kona Horseshoe Pitchers event Nov. 17
The Kona Horseshoe Pitchers Club will hold its annual turkey toss Nov. 17 behind the Old Kona Airport Park tennis courts.
The tournament features doubles teams and is limited to 48 players, ages 14 and older. The entry fee is $10, and organizers will offer turkeys and hams as prizes. The registration deadline is Nov. 15.

Captain Cook basketball classes start Monday
The Hawaii County Department of Parks and Recreation in Captain Cook will hold a beginner’s basketball camp for boys and girls ages 9-14 starting Monday at Yano Hall. The classes will run from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Nov. 21. There is no registration fee.

Waikoloa Amateur Championship
wrapped up Sunday
The Waikoloa Amateur Championship wrapped up Sunday, with Blaine Fujimoto taking the top prize.
The two-day event was held at Waikoloa Village Golf Club Saturday and Sunday. A total of 116 amateur golfers from the Big Island and elsewhere competed in the event. The tournament awarded more than $8,500 in prize money.

HI-PAL holds monthly basketball clinics
The Hawaii Police Activities League, along with Hawaii Island Hoops, is holding monthly clinics for agility, conditioning and skills at the Panaewa covered facility. The first camp was Oct. 26, but the camps will continue in November at a date to be announced.

Konawaena winter sports parents’
meeting Nov. 7
Konawaena will hold a winter sports parents’ meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at the high school cafeteria.
All students interested in participating in one of the winter sports need to have a parent or guardian attend this meeting.
Winter sports at Konawaena are basketball, soccer, paddling, wrestling and swimming and diving.
Asia Pacific
Junior Cup Sunday
The Asia Pacific Junior Cup will be held Sunday at Waikoloa Kings’ Course.
The event will pair two amateurs with two junior golfers, one from Hawaii and one from Japan.
The entry fee is $100 per amateur, of which $50 is tax deductible. The fee includes a post-play lunch.

Miracle Mile Nov. 10
The Big Island Running Co. will hold the Miracle Mile in connection with the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival on Nov. 10.
The one-mile run on Alii Drive will start and finish at Coconut Grove Marketplace. The run begins promptly at 5 p.m. The registration fee is $10 in advance and $15 on race day.

Phenom basketball exposure camps at KS-Hawaii
Two Phenom Top 150 camps designed to give high school basketball players exposure to college programs will be at Kamehameha-Hawaii.
The Phenom 150, for rising ninth- through 12th-graders, will be Saturday and Sunday at the Kamehameha-Hawaii gymnasium in Keaau. The camp for rising fifth- through eighth-graders will be Nov. 17-18 at the same place.

IKL karate
championship Saturday
The Kona Branch of the International Karate League will host the IKL Karate Championship at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Kekuaokalani Gymnasium.
IKL Branches from Hilo, Paauilo, Honokaa, Waimea, North Kohala, Waikoloa, Captain Cook, Kailua-Kona, Kealakehe, Pahala, Keaau, Oahu and California will attend the event.
In addition, other traditional karate schools throughout Hawaii Island have been invited to participate in the tournament.
A special guest, the Founder and Chief Instructor of the IKL Shihan (Master) Walter K. Nishioka of Manoa Valley, Oahu, will be presiding over the event.
The tournament will feature competition in Kata (Forms), Kumite (Sparring), and Kobudo (Weaponry), for children, teenagers and adults.
Other martial art instructors from different styles will be in attendance and available to the public to answer any questions about their respective style of martial art.
The tournament is open to the public, and admission is free. The Hawaii Police Athletic Federation is a proud sponsor of this event that promotes sportsmanship, respect and good will among its competitors.

Alumni Football USA games return to the Big Island early January. These games are an opportunity for alumni of local high schools to play in a full contact football game while raising money for their old high schools.

Furthermore, Gail will give her perspectives on the contributions of Emanuel Steward, an International Boxing Hall of Fame trainer and HBO Analyst who recently died. In the 1970s, Steward turned Detroit’s Kronk Gym into a world famous boxing center and a way to keep kids out of trouble in southwestern Detroit. Steward also worked with Lennox Lewis, Oscar De La Hoya and Wladimir Klitschko.
